LITTER PICK ON THURSDAY 3RD JUNE AT GREYFRIARS HOTEL at 10am
This year’s Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean, branded the “MillionMilesMission”, takes place from 28 May to 13 June. The goal is to clean up a million miles of UK streets, coastline, parks, footpaths, and neighbourhoods. Due to the COVID situation KBT advises against large group litter picks. Instead KBT is encouraging individuals, family groups, and socially-distanced groups of up to six people, to “Pledge to Pick” via their website Great British Spring Clean | Keep Britain Tidy where you can also find advice, information and COVID-19 guidance.
To help get the campaign off to a good start in Colchester the Civic Society is holding an initial litter pick on Thursday 3rd June at 10 am, meeting in front of Greyfriars Hotel. Bags and hi-vis tabards will be available plus some spare litter-pickers. A second litter pick is planned for the following Thursday (10th June), meeting at the same time and place.
Last year we collected 30 bags of litter so our goal this year is to do even better. If you cannot join us on the above dates, we encourage you to go out individually or as a pair, and litter pick for as often and as long as you like. We can provide you with gear if needed. In this case, please take a photo of yourself with the full bag(s) when you leave them by a litter bin for CBC to collect; and if agreeable, please send photos to Sheila or myself for the Society’s Facebook page. Please keep track of the number of hours, number of people, and number of bags filled, and make sure to share these details by emailing with Sheila or John C0llet using info@colchestercivicsociety.co.uk so that we can keep a tally and record our collective efforts with KBT and CBC.
